How to get a Masters degree from UCAM (Innovation and Tourism Marketing)

English, Insider Report

But what actually happened with the official Master’s title?

Good call! The stories before were all related to an internal failure of UCAM regarding the official certification. But this is just a university thing. The real official Master’s title is issued by the Spanish Ministry of Education and ratified by the Spanish King Felipe. I received this week finally my title.

???

No. There is no mistake in the last paragraph. That’s the official process of how it works in Spain for every student before having an educational title. And yes – I received the title indeed last week in February 2020.

I finished the study officially in October 2017 and hold my official title for the first time in my hands in February 2020. My whole study took only 11 months and the process of issuing the official Master’s title took 29 months. What a farce!!

This time, UCAM isn’t the main culprit and guilty of that, but they aren’t innocent either. Due to some other unforgivable errors on the part of UCAM, this process has also been artificially and unnecessarily lengthened due to individual failures in their administration.

These administrators from UCAM were simply too slow to do their job again. But it is the King of Spain who officially signs the official title of every graduate from a Spanish university. After that, the whole thing has to be processed by the Ministry of Education, is sent to the university, and then passed on to me by a courier service.

UCAM was then somewhere in the middle of that process as a mediator and connection rod between student and Ministry. Their job was to convey information and coordinate the application process for each student. Well, it’s not their fault, that King Felipe needs forever to sign a document and that the Ministry of Education is neither the quickest institution in the Iberian Peninsula.

But of course, the administration of UCAM fucked up the same way again they did before with their certification. The same type with internal communication was terrible and provoked maybe 3 – 6 months of additional waiting time for me. I’m just happy, that I got my official Master’s title before my final retirement.

And this is what that piece of pamphlet looks like:

King Phil congratulates Don Phil

It was worth studying for the Master’s and having to endure all of UCAM’s unprofessional misconduct of their administration over the last years to be called by the King of Spain finally ‘DON PHIL‘. That’s worth than being a Master in something. DON PHIL is the greater honor as a piece of paper.

If you have always imagined the Latin American continent and its systems to be completely chaotic, unreliable, and unprofessional, I certainly cannot contradict you from my own experience. At least the insane conditions and processes in the Spanish authorities are eagerly competing for the worst and most inefficient bureaucracy worldwide. My honest congratulations on that doubtful award.

But again. Not everything was bad about my studies. I was taught some very interesting and good knowledge of innovation, marketing, and tourism. And there are plenty of reasons, why I would recommend someone to consider a study at UCAM:

7 reasons to study the masters degree “Innovation and Tourism Marketing” at UCAM

You finished your Bachelor degree successfully? Congratulations! So what to do next in life? If you considered a Master study at UCAM in Spain, I can give you valuable insights. Read this blog article to find out why it could be a good choice to study “Innovation and Tourism Marketing” at UCAM in Spain.

I like the city of Murcia. And the university looks like Hogwarts. My study course was great. It’s just the administration that is run by sassy and incompetent people. If I would’ve known earlier, that private lunatic asylum than a university, I would’ve chosen it differently. But you never know before. Especially our lazy and incompetent course coordinator from back then was just a shame and a real demotivation for every ambitious student. But some people can’t be selected in life and have to be dealt with. No matter what. Even a completely useless person as a study coordinator.

Yours faithfully,

DON PHIL
